Pizza on the Sofa
and the Sneezy Bunny Rabbit
Nina, Pia and I are sitting on the dark blue sofa. There’s been a little commotion to decide who sits where; in the end I’m in the middle and they both rest their heads on my lap.
I’ve already read them one book and told them three stories while we wait for their mom to come home. One of the stories was about the Marmalade Shop and the Three Orange Cats. We all giggle thinking of Bergamot’s clumsy head.
One more storyyy! Just one more, please!
And one more story it is.
There are days in which my legs and joints are in so much pain that I wish I could part from them for a little bit, just like you do with a pair of uncomfortable shoes; today is one of those days. Because of that we’re having dinner on the sofa. In fact, we’re having pizza! One pizza each on the sofa — what a treat!
Pizza on the stripey sofa, with a salad of mustard leaves from Windmill.
We each have a napkin, mine is light blue with elaborate white flower drawings while Thom’s one is pink with light green leaves. On my lap sits a plate with 3 slices of pizza waiting to be eaten. As I make space for the salad leaves on my plate, I hear a silly little sneeze.
eeetciù!, sniff, sniff…
Salute, I tell Thom.
But that wasn’t me!
And who was it then?
E E E T C I U U Ù ! ! !
This time it’s much louder!
We look in the salad bowl and there she is: underneath one of the leaves sits a little bunny rabbit with fuzzy chocolate brown fur and floppy ears. She sneezes again and her ears plop down in front of her eyes — bloop. She twitches her nose and wiggles her whiskers as she sniffs her bed made of salads.
Poor thing, she must be allergic to the mustard leaves!
Hop little bunny, hop, hop, hop.
